A TINY rodent's foray into the Chinchilla town substation caused 1850 customers to lose power last night.
An Ergon Energy spokesperson said the hour-long blackout in Chinchilla last night occurred after "a rat came into contact with a transformer at the Chinchilla town substation, causing the circuit breaker to trip and interrupting the power supply."
The blackout lasted just over an hour between 7.10 and 8.15pm.
"Ergon crews replaced a blown high-voltage fuse so the feeder line supplying those customers could be re-energised," the spokesperson said.
Unfortunately for the rat, its nightly excursions to the Chinchilla town substation are at an end.
