A tree knocked into a power line on the 900 block of Pettibone Avenue in Flint around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, causing a power outage in the area. Consumers Energy was called out to the location and was working on restoring power. Power in the area was estimated to return at 6:30 p.m. According to the outage map on Consumers Energy's website, the outage is also affecting areas on Lincoln Avenue, Waldman Avenue and West Atherton Road. Contractors from Davey Tree believe the tree fell over because it was old and already deteriorating. They also believe the dampness of the roots from the day's rain and the high wind advisory from a few weeks ago also played into the tree eventually falling over. Part of the road was temporarily shut down and will be re-opened when the tree is removed and the powerline work completed.
