More than 3,500 AEP Ohio customers are currently without power, including more than 500 residents in Ashland County. AEP Ohio Spokesman Jeff Rennie said a transmission feed to its Shelby substation has malfunctioned and power was lost at 3:11 p.m. Wednesday. Technicians are still diagnosing the problem as no cause has been determined and a time of restoration is currently unknown. "It may take an hour or two to determine the cause," Rennie said. According to AEP Ohio's website, the outage is affecting 3,518 customers, including 567 in Ashland County, 793 in Huron County and 2,158 in Richland County. Firelands Electric Cooperative also reports approximately 100 Ashland County customers without power on its website, including more than 70 in Clear Creek Township.
