American Electric Power reports a transformer fire off Hughes Street initially left 3,985 AEP customers without power in Zanesville, including the Times Recorder office.
The transformer fire was caused by a failed fuse, said Jeff Rennie, AEP Ohio spokesman. Within a few minutes of the initial outage at 4:46 p.m., 2,265 customers were restored to power. By 8:40 p.m., all customers were restored to power.
