It is considered as the biggest hydro Power plant station for generating power in Africa for a total of 2100 M.W as its connected to the grid in the period from 1967 till 1970. Respectively the power generated from its 12 turbines is transmitted through overhead lines to the load centers on voltage Levels 500, 132kv. |

§ Protecting the Arab Republic of Egypt from the danger of low and high floods.
§ Till the end of June 2005, the station produced about 268598 Million k.w.h which equal a saving in the consumption of fuel of about 61 Million tons mazot.
§ The High Dam Power plant covered half of the demand of the Arab Republic of Egypt in its early period (54.3% in 1978). The energy generated by the High Dam station reached 8153 Million K.W.h while the total energy generated by the whole country reached 15012 Million K.W.h, at that time.
