The New Power Plants |
In 1998, the five- year plan 2002-2007 aimed at adding generation capacities of 4900M.W, to meet the necessary needs from the loads based on an annual increase rate of 5.5%. However, the actual statistics showed that the average increase in the loads from 1998-2002 reached while the consumption rate in the different fields was also increasing. Therefore the five-year plan 2002-2007 has been changed so as the increase rate would be about 7.5% and the total generation in the plan would be 5610 M.W including 4500 M.W in the combined cycle which is put as a fast track in the sites of North Cairo, Nubaria, Talkha, and Kurimat. And here under is the executive summary: |
* Cairo North Combined cycle Project (Capacity of 1500M.W): |
· First Module: - The commercial operation for the two gas units (2X250M.W) in July, and August 2004 consequently. - Operating the steam unit (1x250M.W) in July 2005. |
* Nubaria Power Plant combined cycle Project 1,2 (Capacity of 1500M.W) |
· Second Module: - Operating the gas units (2X250M.W) in December 2005/ January 2006 consequently. - Operating the steam unit (1X250M.W) in October 2007. |
- Operating the two gas units (2X250M.W) in 22 July, August 2005 consequently. - Operating the third and fourth gas units (2X250M.W) in September consequently. - Operating the steam units (2X250M.W) in September 2006. |
* Talkha Power Plant Project (Capacity of 750M.W) - Operating the gas units (2X250M.W) in August /September 2006 and the steam units (250 M.W) in December 2007. |
* El-Kurimat Power Plant Project (Capacity of 750M.W) - The gas units (2X250M.W) will be operating in January/ February 2007, the steam unit (250M.W) will be operating in April 2008. - Since all expectations show that there will be a great increase in the loads and that the maximum load would reach (23800M.W) in 2012, a study has been worked on to meet this increase by adding new Power plants of a total capacity of (6925M.W) during the period of 2007-2012 (1675M.W) steam plants and (5250MW) combined cycle system plants. |
